Hi there! I am a digital product manager with experience in training, communication, product development, and data system design. I am a pragmatic out-of-the-box thinker that likes to get stuff done.
I believe in the scout’s motto, “leave things better than you found them”, and genuinely want to be working on building things that make the world a better place. I don’t want to take a bigger slice of pie. I want to bake more and better pies.
I love designing and developing systems that automate decisions and work to make things operate silky smooth. I hate anything that feels sisyphean. (Hence why I do a lot of process automation.)
Systematically remove extra manual steps and pretty soon you will have a faster, more accurate system than your team could have imagined.
Strength: Starting from zero to discover and develop a new process/project
I believe in product/project goals and iterative short-term planning. In product or software development, the learning often starts after you have developed or shipped the first version. To plan too far ahead is folly and misunderstands what you don’t know yet.
Know where you want to go, but be humble, don’t plan too far ahead, and iterate quickly.
Of my numerous start-up projects, three have achieved the revenue phase, with one (Brode) earning modest ongoing profits. I believe that it is good to start and quit many things as you learn and find the best ideas along the way.
I have experience in the following digital toolsets:
- Python
- Django
- Scrapy
- Pandas
- Openpyxl
- Google Gemini
- HTML/CSS
- Bootstrap
- SQL
- MongoDB
- MS Excel
- WordPress
- APIs
- Streamlit
- Digital Ocean
I have an off-grid handmade log cabin in the woods that I try to visit at least once per quarter.
I try to be reading one nonfiction and one fiction book at all times.
I have a presentation about personal finance that I give to junior employees that centers on money as choices.
I cook almost all of my meals and am a rarely-eat-meatitarian. I have more recently got into homemade pasta. I save bones and scraps to make stock, and use it to cook beans and soups.
I have a sewing machine and do my own clothing repairs and minor alterations.
